Privacy Policy

Effective May 24, 2026

IMS Daily is a mobile companion app published by the International Missionary Society of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (Reform Movement). This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What stays on your device

Highlights, notes, bookmarks, reading progress, and your reader theme choice live in a local database (SQLite) on your phone. The entire app works offline. If you never sign in, none of this data ever leaves your device.

What syncs when you sign in

When you create an account, the same notes, highlights, bookmarks, reading progress, and your Ask AI conversations mirror to a Supabase database tied to your email address. This is what lets you open the app on a new device and pick up where you left off. Row-level security rules in our database mean only your own rows are visible to your account.

Signing in with Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, we use Google's OAuth flow (via Supabase Auth) to request the following information from your Google account:
  • Your email address (email scope)
  • Your basic profile (profile scope) — name and profile picture, used to personalize the app
  • An OpenID Connect identifier (openid scope) — used by Supabase to uniquely identify your account

We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service. We do not store your Google password. Google's own privacy policy applies to data handled on their side and is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

IMS Daily's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What the AI assistant sees

Questions you send to the Ask AI assistant are forwarded to DeepSeek through a server-side function we control, along with the prior turns in that same conversation so the assistant can answer with context. The conversation is stored under your account so you can revisit it later. We do not use your conversations to train any AI model.

Push notifications

If you opt in to push notifications, we store a device push token in our database so we can notify you when an IMS live broadcast begins. We use Expo's push service to deliver these notifications. You can revoke notification permission at any time from your phone's system settings.

What we never collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone audio, or behavioral analytics. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. The devotional content the app ships with is the same for everyone.

How long we keep your data

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see below), all rows tied to your account in our database are removed within 30 days.

Deleting your account and data

You can sign out from the Profile screen at any time — that severs the link to your account on that device. To permanently delete your account and all data tied to it, email privacy@imsmessenger.org from the email address tied to your account, and we will process the deletion within a few business days.

Children

IMS Daily is suitable for general audiences, but the account system is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify signed-in users in the app.
