Terms of Service

Effective May 24, 2026

These terms govern your use of IMS Daily, a mobile companion app published by the International Missionary Society of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (Reform Movement) ("IMS", "we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The service

IMS Daily provides devotionals, articles, magazines, video content, an AI assistant for questions about IMS beliefs and writings, and local tools (highlights, notes, bookmarks) that can optionally sync to an IMS account. The service is provided free of charge.

2. Your account

Some features — cross-device sync, the Ask AI assistant — require you to create an account using your email address or a Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose;
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the normal operation of the app or its backend;
  • Use automated means (scrapers, bots) to access the app at a rate that disrupts service for others;
  • Submit content or AI prompts that are abusive, harassing, or intended to elicit harmful output;
  • Misrepresent the AI's output as authoritative IMS doctrine when republishing it elsewhere.

4. Content and intellectual property

The devotional texts, magazines, articles, videos, brand marks, and design of the app are the property of IMS or its licensors and are protected by copyright. You may read, save, and reference this content for personal devotional use. You may not redistribute it commercially, republish it as your own, or strip attribution.

5. Your content

Highlights, notes, and bookmarks you create stay yours. By using the sync feature, you grant us a limited license to store and transmit that content solely so the app can mirror it across your devices. We do not claim ownership of your notes and do not use them for any purpose other than serving them back to you.

6. AI assistant — important disclaimer

The Ask AI feature uses a large language model (DeepSeek) to answer questions, with citations to IMS source material where possible. The AI is a study aid, not an authoritative source of doctrine. It can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-context answers. For matters of faith, doctrine, or personal counsel, please consult an IMS minister or the original source materials. Personal and pastoral questions should be escalated to a real human.

7. Third-party services

The app relies on third-party services to function, including Supabase (authentication, database, storage), Google (optional sign-in), DeepSeek (AI), Expo (push notifications), and YouTube (video playback). Your use of those services through the app is additionally governed by their own terms.

8. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time and may request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, IMS will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of data, loss of access, or reliance on AI-generated content.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify signed-in users in the app.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to contact@imsmessenger.org.
